It has now been a week since I last saw Jesse, and I'm missing her so much! This girl is just so awesome! She doesn't claim to be a photographer herself, but she owns the coolest purple camera and is my faithful companion on midnight photography sessions. Whether it's learning to dance the Charleston under the stars or getting feedback on a class you're nervous about teaching, Jesse is the best person for the job. She is also just as beautiful on the inside as she is on the outside!
It's funny that it took a graduation speech to get Katrina and I together. Of course we knew of each other from camp and through mutual friends, but didn't realize how much we had in common until a year after meeting. She was singing with her choir at my high school graduation when something I said struck a chord with her. We talked during the reception and parted ways. A month later we again attended the same camp, and something she said during campfire caught my ear. It was the last day at camp, but this time when we parted, we determined to keep in touch. Now it's hard to remember what it was like before we became friends. But the good ones are always like that--indispensable.
I was so excited after taking these portraits that I ran home and edited them all that same night! I met the Burkes years and years ago, but hadn't seen them for almost 10 years until one of their daughters joined our Awana group. When they asked me to take their family portraits, I couldn't believe it! Not only are they fun to be around, but you can't possibly take a bad picture of them! Thank you Burke family for trusting your pictures in my hands. I hope you like them as much as I do!
You might have noticed the lack of posts this last week. My sisters and I were on staff at Child Evangelism Fellowship's Christian Youth In Action camp. It was a great experience, and I can't wait to do it again next year!
I have a ton of editing to do, so check back soon to see more pictures. Until then, I just had to post a picture of my beautiful friend Jennica. She just graduated from The Master's College and will be working towards her credential this next year. Love ya girl!
It took awhile, but we finally were able to hang out again with Jennica! This time we didn't leave the house, so there was no tripod parts left behind. It was also a beautiful June day, so the hot drinks were replaced with strawberry shortcake (no pictures, I was too busy eating it!). Thanks for coming over, chilling out, watching a movie, making dinner, posing for pictures, and cleaning the kitchen with us, Jennica! Keep us updated on life down south!
Looking through my scrapbooks, I noticed how few pictures I have of some of the people I see the most. So Nathan, taking pity on me (and perhaps feeling a little left out ;-), let me take a few pictures. I've been experimenting shooting wide open with my brand new 50 1.4. The depth of field is amazing! A little more work with backlighting, and I don't think I'll be using my other lenses quite so often. Thanks for letting me practice, Nathan!
