I've Been There

I know your pain. The agony of searching your closet for the perfect outfit only to come up with nothing. The trials of finding the cutest blouse at the store and just noticing the spot on it just after you found out it fit perfectly. The annoyance of smiling over and over again and wondering if your smile is crooked. The unknown between the click of the shutter and the glance at the screen.

But I also know the joy of getting your makeup done professionally and looking into the mirror to see a much cooler you. The excitement of finding another cute blouse on sale that matches your shoes. The fun of not caring that people keep glancing at you and wondering what you're doing in front of that fountain, jumping off that bench, and leaning on that wall. And the relief from finally seeing your picture and thinking it ain't half bad.

Special thanks to fabulous makeup artist, Jessica Palmer, and my rad photographer of a sister, Elizabeth!

One Fine Fall Day

She has a phobia of looking into the camera. I hold the camera up, she looks away. I put the camera down, she looks up. I don't understand it. It's only when I get one of her favorite treats and hold it right above the lens that she stare in the right direction. Don't laugh. I'm not the only one who takes pictures of my dog!

Sheri: Changes

When I decided to expand my photography and start doing more lifestyle sessions, I knew the perfect person to help me. Sheri, one of my oldest and dearest friends, is not only sweet and beautiful, but lots of fun too! She willingly fell prey to my pleads and let me ransack her room to find the perfect clothes and props. Though we barely had any time to shoot as we miscalculated when the sun would set, I think we still got some awesome pictures! We've gone through so many changes together that I think documenting some of the changes to come made the shoot even more special. Confused? Check out that bling below!

Mmmm

Fresh blueberries, apple tarts, and a bowl of cherries. I admit it; I kind of like to photograph food. Mainly on the sweet end of the food spectrum. Yes, I have joy in downloading my pictures and getting hungry just looking at them. I think it has something to do with the lighting and texture, but that just might be an excuse. I know, I'm weird.

So to celebrate my individuality, I'm bringing you a recipe created by Martha Stewart herself (or at least in her food magazine) and photographed almost Pioneer Woman style.

Yummy Fall Snacks

1 pear
2 graham crackers (because they make them tinier now!)
1 dollop of cream cheese

Spread cream cheese over graham crackers. Slice pear and place on top of cream cheese. Take bite and wonder how you never thought this up years ago. If you don't have pears, try apples. Let me know if you come up with any fun combinations!

All Things Peppermint

I had a dream while growing up of owning a store that sold all things peppermint. We're not talking about peppermint scented candles, but peppermint ice cream, cookies, cake, and candy. I even created a little picture of it from a styrofoam plate and red & white stripped ribbon. While that dream has long since been forgotten and replaced with something better, my love for peppermint still remains. So imagine my joy to find that my favorite candy cane tea is back in the stores! Can you see why this is my favorite time of year?

As for my new dream, I'm blessed to be living it out each and every day!

The Last of Texas

I'm sitting inside working on homework and wishing I had a portrait session this afternoon. It's the perfect day for a photo shoot! So I'll content myself with finishing up the pictures from Texas.

There is such a thing as too much shopping, but you can never take too many pictures! So the kids and I turned our day into...well, you can see below:

After touring the Texas capitol in Austin, it makes me wish California had such an interesting history. That and the perfect weather we had while visiting almost makes me think I could live there...almost.
