It was one year ago today that I stepped outside of my password protected site where I posted pictures for friends and family and took my first step towards Lydia Photography online. Now, over 5,000 visitors and one Facebook page later, it is no longer the plain, boring, white site it once was. I remember spending hour after hour almost in tears trying to figure out html, css, and why the rotating banner just wouldn't show up right. If it weren't for a friend of a friend, you would still see a block of white instead of pictures at the top of the page!
God has been so good to me in the past year! I've had wonderful clients who were willing to pay me to do something I love. I've made so many new photography friends like Laura, Catie, and Patti. I've gotten to shoot with amazing photographers like Amy, Lisa, and Hannah. I've had friends who were willing to smile time and time again so I could practice. My family has been supportive and jumped in to help more than once. And last, but not least, it has been so fun to read comments from readers. It makes my day when I get notified of a new comment! Thanks everyone for making it such a great year!

MCP Actions Contest
My sisters are some of the best assistants I could ask for! So when I saw this contest on MCP Actions to win a Shootsac, I had to enter to try to win one for them! They are constantly lugging around equipment for me. If you've seen them at a session or wedding, you've probably felt sorry for them!
To enter the contest, I had to take a picture showing why I needed to win one. Look at all this stuff I'm holding! And the other half was on the ground getting wet from the rain. Yes, it was raining during our shoot--talk about committed! And that neoprene Shootsac would be so much better at protecting the gear from water. ;-)
You can enter and see the contest on the MCP Actions blog.

Mom*tog
For all you moms who are photographers or want to know how to take better snapshots of your children, Drew, of DrewB Photography, has created Mom*tog. It's an awesome blog "for moms who love photography." So far she has some wonderful posts on backdrops, lenses, how to blur backgrounds, and more! And while I'm not a mom myself, I can't help but read it and fall in love with the pictures of her adorable son, Brayden!

Sheri: Snow Shoot
Four to five inches on Sunday. Three more on Wednesday. Eight inches more and I lost track. The snow kept coming down last week! I'd guess we've gotten around twenty inches total with probably around six inches still on the ground today. With all this snow, I thought it would be appropriate to finally post a shoot I did in the snow last year with Sheri. It had snowed so much, that when she left, we had to pack all her stuff into a laundry basket on the back of the ATV and ride out to the end of the road! I've got to get a copy of the video she made of our adventure. It was quite the ride and a memorable experience!

Michelle & Marcus
As I approach midterms, I'm missing seeing all my friends. It seems like we all get bogged down with work and school during the year and rarely get past phone calls and chats online. Here's to the good ol' days of PHC distance learning, the lasting friendships made through it, and visits from those friends last December!
We decided to capitalize on our height differences and do something fun(ny)!
