Grass Valley Backyard Wedding | Andrea & Roland

A year ago Andrea told her friend that she wanted to go to Africa as a missionary–unmarried, of course, because no guy would want to do that as well. But earlier this year she was telling that same friend that while at the movies with her church, she had happened to sit next to the young, single pastor, and their elbows had touched! The story is a little vague whether or not he felt the spark at that same moment, but just a few months later they were planning a sweet, backyard wedding!

It’s a beautiful thing to see two individuals with the same passion for serving God unite together as one. And if you can’t tell by the pictures, it doesn’t hurt that they’re also madly in love! Congratulations Andrea and Roland!

When we started talking about their day, the one thing that Andrea wanted to do was to wait to see Roland until she was walking down the aisle to get married. But as the discussion progressed, she realized that a First Look could be even more special and give them that emotional moment alone to just be together. We kept the aisle and the walk, but gave them their time to create that memory just for themselves!

In a few quiet moments before the ceremony, Andrea was surrounded by her closest friends and family to pray and commit the day to the Lord.

The walk down the aisle was no less emotional despite their First Look!

After the ceremony, we wanted to go to a place that was special to them both for their pictures together. First Baptist Church of Nevada City has a beautiful, old-fashioned building, and as Roland is the pastor there, it was the perfect place to start!

The light was just gorgeous in downtown Nevada City!

They saved their first official kiss for the wedding, so eskimo kisses became their thing. I don’t see them completely abandoning it though! ;-)

Andrea was just glowing and radiant all day!

  1. I love how she still walked down the aisle for the first look! Good idea! :)

Wow…these photos are amazing! Both the photographer and the couple! They should be in a magazine! Just perfect.
    Beautiful :)
