Especially with the rise of social media and a internet access in the hand of almost every person, brand photography and head shots for business is so important! Depending on what you want to convey, the style you shoot can be trendy or even old school, but I always like to focus on lifestyle and personality!
Moving from New York to Grass Valley, California, it was time to add a few more images to Ean’s Moxie Bookkeeping portfolio. Especially as she is also a known speaker and Profit First coach!
Sometimes as a creative you just have to be creative for creativity’s sake! I love using the winter and early spring months to set up a lifestyle shoot to keep those juices flowing and not become stagnant. Sometimes it’s putting together something to expand my portfolio and other times developing new skills! So when Jess from Polish & Pout told me that one of our favorite Roseville locations was filled with a field of beautiful wildflowers, I grabbed my first available date to make something happen
Our model, Alex, was amazing and did her own styling from her Lavender & Lace Vintage shop! She and her sister search for vintage clothing that they can update to create new modern pieces!
You can’t even tell that she’s standing in the rain!
As always, Polish & Pout never lets me down! Jessica’s hair and makeup skills blow me away!
After getting completely soaked, we loaded up the car and started driving toward the sunshine. Right down the road, the clouds opened up to show off this rainbow!
I felt like I was at an Anthropologie lifestyle shoot! Just love everything about it!
With the release of her last book, my friend and fellow photographer, Randy, invited me along to for a western bridal photoshoot to create some beautiful promotional pictures. It was so fun seeing my pictures in print for advertising all across the US! So I was thrilled to be invited along again to shoot portraits of western author, Chris Enss, herself!
Christian did an amazing job creating these stylish hats!
Burlap roses and features with vintage broaches for the most unique western bridal bouquet!
So beautiful!
Location | Old Victorian in Grass Valley, California
One thing I love about living in Grass Valley is the other amazing wedding vendors in the area. Our NCWeds group is filled with so many creative professionals who get together at least every other month at a venue to network and catch up on each other’s lives. One way I connect is with a portrait shoot to get updated portraits for their website + marketing materials. So when Sandy called to schedule a session for her birthday, I was excited to help out!
After getting her hair and makeup done, Sandy and I met at Stonehouse, one of my favorite Nevada City venues. With a short break in the rain, we were able to get exactly what we wanted!
My favorite thing about portrait shoots is spending time with a person and getting to know them in order to make sure what I capture portrays who that person really is. A perk is that by the time we’re done, I have a new friend! Sarah was no exception. She’s a beautiful mother of three who lives with her husband in the country and is starting a business to help other women follow their dreams. I can’t wait to see the website Phyllis is designing for her!
