With the release of her last book, my friend and fellow photographer, Randy, invited me along to for a western bridal photoshoot to create some beautiful promotional pictures. It was so fun seeing my pictures in print for advertising all across the US! So I was thrilled to be invited along again to shoot portraits of western author, Chris Enss, herself!
Christian did an amazing job creating these stylish hats!
Burlap roses and features with vintage broaches for the most unique western bridal bouquet!
So beautiful!

You could say we met the old fashioned way: online. We were both active readers of The Rebelution blog and both so excited when their first ever conference was in California! As bloggers ourselves and team members that helped promote the conference, we were also invited to take a special picture that later got published on the blog. Fast forward a year to 2007 and our second meeting took place at the next California conference. Add one coffee meetup years later, and Lindsey and I were friends mostly by facebook and occasional greetings. So when her mom emailed me requesting a session for Lindsey’s birthday, I was so excited! Of the two things on her wish list–a rice cooker and a photo shoot–you’ve got to admit, the pictures are the most fun! ;-)
And while we’ve mostly been friends from afar, Lindsey has been such an encouragement and inspiration in my life! I keep telling her that I think of her as years older because she’s always been crazy mature! As a debate champion, co-founder of Beauty From the Heart, and still an active writer on Lies Young Women Believe, she’s able to use her gift of writing and communication to speak truth in a world of confusion! I’m so honored to have been able to spend an afternoon with her and her family capturing a little slice of life in this moment!
Look at this gorgeous birthday girl!
I was ecstatic about the light at the UC Davis Arboretum. Good find, guys!
So free and joyful, even in the hard times.
One of my favorites!
As an older sister to two sisters myself, this just warms my heart! I want a sister picture like this!
It has always been a dream of mine to be featured, to share my amazing clients with the world and inspire brides to create a day that truly reflects them! My first publication was actually a couple of years ago as a magazine cover for, get this, teachers in Ukraine. My cousins were missionaries there and worked with the people who created the magazine. They needed a picture for the winter edition, liked what I submitted, and printed it!
Now in the iPad age, print isn’t the only way to be published. I’m so blessed to work with the best clients and grateful to some amazing online blogs for featuring a few of my sessions!
If you remember Sheri & Nick’s Road Trip maternity session, you know their baby was going to be cute. But did you guess blonde hair and blue eyes?? Titus Ander was born last Saturday and looks just like a mini Nick! I just had to sneak in a mini shoot when I went to see him!
Recognize this bear from before? Titus is here to take his place!
Ready for his boy band audition, right after a nap!
Munching on chips and salsa, we talked about where their 2nd anniversary shoot should take place. We had just finished up an amazing lifestyle shoot for Sheri and Nick‘s 1st anniversary, and I was pumped at the thought of being able to do something like that again! As 2011 rolled around, Sheri called me with exciting news–she was pregnant! As summer approached, she told me about a road trip she and Nick were taking as a last big trip before the baby came, and thus our theme was born: Road Trip!
I can’t think of two nicer people, who genuinely care about others, than Sheri and Nick. This baby is going to come into a world full of people who love him!
We started out with some lifestyle pictures at William Jessup University, where Nick is a resident director.
We then moved to a little piece of road that went to no where and a field in the middle of some office buildings. Sheri made it all look good!
