Give me a field and beautiful light, and like any photographer, I could shoot there all day! But what makes it really special is when it fits the person being photographed there, which is why I love it when seniors pick their own location! And did Madeline pick good or what?!

With her entourage and a truckload of props, we spent this last couple hours of daylight in the field capturing this smart and funny girl! And while this is only a glimpse into her life and many talents, her beauty and spirit is so evident! Madeline, it was an honor and joy to spend a day with you and your family capturing this sneak peek into your life!

Sweet peas from the garden, books, and a cup of coffee–I think Madeline would choose to study out here any day!

“Now let me just take another picture without the sun flare.”
“What did you say? I can’t turn off this Latin flair!”

As the last light was fading into night, we jumped in the car, joking about empty fields and possible truck driver killers. It was the perfect end to an amazing shoot! As a Lydia Seniors 2013 Forest Lake Christian School Senior Rep, Luke was so much fun! Lucky for him it got dark because we could have gone on for hours!

I’m so thankful for Luke and his family! Going through pictures from when I first started my business, I came across a set of him and his sister graciously letting me practice on them. Luke, all these years later, it’s such a privilege to capture this point in your life!

We just had to start out with a man’s best friend: Dudley the dog.

It’s a little known fact that I used to be a violin teacher. Well, meet my first student! Luke now uses his musical abilities as a guitarist to bless his church and school!

We got the Latin flair going on a little here!

Get this, he also likes to write some of his own music!

As well as tap into some old soul music with a few records.

Thanks to everyone who came out Saturday to browse the Fair in the Square! As a proud homeschool graduate, it was fun to be back in the atmosphere and see so many old friends! I had to leave early to shoot a wedding, but I heard the kids enjoyed the otter pops we gave out. Can’t wait to see who is next in joining the Lydia Seniors team!

This is where my love of interior design gets its kicks. Half the fun was designing my booth layout!

Cool candle holders make for great business card displays!

As a bibliophile, books to display pictures and cards are a must!

My grandpa’s dynamite box from his coal mining days made an appearance again.

Much love to Grass Valley Florist for loaning me easels, the antique sewing machine table, and a few flowers to complete the look!

Something about the wire basket display on the left made it my very favorite part of the display. My great uncle’s old camera sitting nearby didn’t hurt either!

Pianoforte Studio and I are so excited to have booths at tomorrow’s A Homeschool Fair in the Square! I’ve been working on my Lydia Seniors booth design for days, and the entrance is free, so if you’re in the area, be sure to stop by and say hi! Help make sure I don’t end up being the most unpopular booth at the fair, and I might have a sweet treat to share! ;-)

I love the look of an eclectic collection of pictures and memorabilia! Maybe it has to do with my pack rat tendencies rejoicing that there’s a way to make random things look pretty together! I wanted to achieve this same kind of look with my senior galleries around town. Collecting frames from various old painting, mirrors, and thrift stores, I spray painted them all the same color. Tada! Instant gallery! If you want to incorporate other kinds of items into the look, check out this tutorial from Kate Spade!

The gallery has now moved and grown, but here’s what it looked like at the Roots Reclaimed Studio!
