I’m not a health authority but with a medical work background I’ve always been strict about my kit and cleaning protocols. With this pandemic, I’ve been using the extra time to study and get ready to do makeup and hair at weddings as soon as it’s safe! Here are some of the resources I’ve collected:
Fresh, romantic makeup is in this spring, and I can’t help but love seeing how radiant a girl looks with glowing skin! And this isn’t just true for brides but also high schoolers! It’s time to fill up the calendar with proms and bridal trials, so I thought I would share a few recent looks and the products used to achieve them. What’re your favorite makeup products for spring?
This beauty was moving away so I had to grab her for one last coffee date and makeup + hair! A newlywed herself it was also the perfect opportunity for a quick bridal shoot. Winter is definitely on its way and she rocked this cold, glowing look!
We kept her skin really fresh and glowing with a pretty, natural smokey eye for contrast!
It was fun when she recognized one of my favorite brands, Glossier, in my kit so I used as many of their products as I could for her to try out!
Naturally curly hair into a french twist? Absolutely love!
The news is out! I can now add “professional makeup artist” to my resume! I’ve spend the last 1 1/2 years building my kit, studying technique, and practicing on faces of all shapes and ages! So while I talked about and posted it everywhere else, it was finally time to make it officially official but announcing it on the blog!
That said, I thought it would be fun to add a new category to the blog to share favorite products I’ve loved for awhile as well as discoveries I’ve made along this journey! In truth I probably should’ve started this awhile back as it has been a love of mine for a long time, but now I feel like I have a good excuse! ;-)
Enter one of my favorite, newer to the beauty market, brands – Glossier! What started as just a beauty blog turned into a whole line of curated products based heavily on what readers were saying they needed. Now everyone from beauty junkies to makeup artists prepping for red carpet looks love and use their products! And I’m no exception! ;-)
Everything comes in the perfect pink, bubble wrap bags with fun quotes on the packaging tape and inside the lid! There’s even a smiley face waving hi at the bottom of the box and a sheet of stickers to personalize your products. :-)
The good design lover in me thinks the pantone pink, simplicity, and fun graphics here and there are perfect!
We’ll start with their two masks – Mega Green Galaxy Pack and Moisturizing Moon Mask. To start, you need to know that I have combination, acne prone, sensitive skin. Some products don’t play well with this type of skin, but it’s usually more on the makeup side and not skincare. Since I can be both breaking out and have dry patches at the same time, I either like to first use the Mega Greens Galaxy Pack and after rinsing use the Moisturizing Moon Mask, or use both at once applying appropriately to the needed areas.
I’ll definitely be repurchasing the Moisturizing Moon Mask, especially as I like to carry some in my kit to revive really dry skin! I still haven’t decided on the Mega Greens Galaxy Pack as it’s a nice clay mask but I already have a favorite that I’ll have to share in another blog post!
I like to use the Soothing Face Mist as another layer of hydration before using face oils. It smells just like roses from your garden which actually isn’t my favorite scent but I do like that it’s a fine mist. I’m also experimenting using it as a pick-me-up later in the day to touch up tired makeup. While it’s more than just plain rose water with glycerin and aloe to hydrate, I’ll finish up the bottle before I decide if it actually works better than just rose water.
Enough can’t be said about Boy Brow! I loved this product from the first swipe! I prefer brows that are a little more full and natural. Editorial is the way I like to describe it. ;-) So this product adds a hint of color to hide uneven spots and has a bit of wax to hold the shape. But it’s still a flexible product so it doesn’t look hard or stiff like a gel. I’m all for one product that does it all, and for me, this is it!
Priming Moisturizer has become the one moisturizer to rule them all for many people, and while I’m layering type of girl myself, I couldn’t help but fall for this one as well! It works for many skin types as you can layer from a light to fuller coverage depending on what you need. I have some good oils and thicker glycerin based moisturizers in my kit for clients but in time maybe I’ll be able to pare things down!
While it’s a heavily curated line, there are a few more products I didn’t end up purchasing and was wishing I had. So be sure to check out the full website to see them all there! Everything obviously purchased by me because I’m not rich or famous and able to afford anything and don’t have to because people want to sponsor me. ;-)
